About

The story behind the mission.

Every woman deserves to walk into birth informed, calm, and in control. This is where that belief started.

What Is WeBirthEmpowered

Education that puts you back in the room.

WeBirthEmpowered is a platform for real, honest birth education — created by an OB/GYN who believes that the woman in the room should always be the one making the decisions. Not the fear. Not the routine. Not the clock on the wall.

We give women the education, language, and confidence to advocate for the birth they actually want — whether that means an unmedicated delivery, a vaginal birth after cesarean, or navigating a breech diagnosis with all your real options on the table.

Our Mission

We empower women with the education and self-belief to make informed choices in pregnancy and birth — so they feel calm, capable, and in control every step of the way.

Our Vision

A world where every woman approaches birth with confidence instead of fear — knowing her options, trusting her body, and owning every choice as her own.

Meet Dr. Delisa

Before she was a department chair, she was a woman who believed birth could be different.

Dr. Delisa Skeete Henry grew up in Miami, raised by a family from Guyana, South America — and from the beginning, she was driven by one thing: making sure women felt heard in the room.

She earned her biology degree with honors from the University of Miami, stayed for medical school, and completed her OB/GYN residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She’s been practicing in South Florida for nearly 20 years.

But the credentials are the backdrop. The real story is what she does with them.

She believes you should own your birth — not just survive it.

Dr. Skeete Henry values the sanctity of vaginal delivery and advocates fiercely for every option available to the women she cares for — natural and unmedicated births, VBACs, hypnobirthing, doula support, and personalized birth plans that providers actually read.

She’s one of a small number of OB/GYNs actively trained in vaginal breech birth — a skill most providers stopped learning decades ago. She’s bringing it back because she believes women deserve the option, not just a default surgery.

And she leads the way she practices: through shared decision-making. The patient and the provider, together, deciding what’s best — with all the information on the table.

Outside the delivery room.

She’s been happily married to Dr. Richard Henry — a chiropractic physician and fellow University of Miami alum — for 20 years. They have four kids who keep life interesting.

When she’s not delivering babies or championing birth rights, you’ll find her reading, listening to podcasts, walking, or riding bikes with her family. She’s currently finishing her MBA at the Kelley School of Business Physician MBA program — because apparently running a practice, chairing a department, and raising four kids left room for one more thing.
